With our satisfaction guarantee, we need to be sure that all wines we select for our list are good. If the thought, "Should it be on the list?" even crosses our minds, it will not be included Next, our Sommelier rates them according to their drinkability, body and approach. We will not select wines with only 1 or 2 stars. The ratings are defined as follows:
Light, friendly, uncomplicated wines, but with enough kick to be interesting.
Richer, more concentrated wines, without being too complex.
Deeper, stronger wines, with bigger tannins (for reds) or refined flavours (for whites).
: 5-Stars wines will have more flavour intensity and/or complexity. Some may be ready to drink now, but many can age for a few more years.

Conti Formentini was created in 1520 by the Formentini family; Venetian Counts, when they purchased the existing castle in the town of San Floriano del Collio, the highest hilltop village in eastern Friuli and the surrounding feudal lands. Wine from the vineyards surrounding the Castello Formentini and the hills of San Floriano have been made here ever since and the Formentini cellar is considered one of the oldest in Collio. Today, the descendants of the Formentini family still own and manage the estate.

Collio Goriziano (or Collio DOC) is an Italian wine region in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, located in the northernmost part of the Province of Gorizia, bordering Slovenia. The name Collio comes from the Italian term for hills, colli. With vines planted since pre-Roman time, Collio is a historic region renowned for its cooler climate and vines planted on rolling hillside across this mountainous region, dominated by white varietals.

In the local dialect, “Furlana” means “to speak Friulian”. The name of this wine refers to the role this variety has always played in the history of Collio, the “flagship wine” of this border territory. It offers an ample and fragrant perfume of meadow flowers and bitter almonds, with recollections of honey; a smooth, velvety, full and harmonic flavour with a highly persistent, distinct and pleasant, bitterish peach nut finish.
