With our satisfaction guarantee, we need to be sure that all wines we select for our list are good. If the thought, "Should it be on the list?" even crosses our minds, it will not be included Next, our Sommelier rates them according to their drinkability, body and approach. We will not select wines with only 1 or 2 stars. The ratings are defined as follows:
Light, friendly, uncomplicated wines, but with enough kick to be interesting.
Richer, more concentrated wines, without being too complex.
Deeper, stronger wines, with bigger tannins (for reds) or refined flavours (for whites).
: 5-Stars wines will have more flavour intensity and/or complexity. Some may be ready to drink now, but many can age for a few more years.

Details

Domaine Emile & Rose is situated in the heart of the Languedoc, in the small village of Corneilhan just north of Beziers. Caroline and Marcel Gisclard, the actual owner, took over the family vineyard inherited from Caroline’s grandparents in 2004. To honour them, the estate was named Emile and Rose, corresponding to the names of family ancestors. The vineyard consists of low-production plots spread in small hills, where Carignan rub shoulders with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault, Grenache & the lesser-known Aramon or White Carignan grapes.

The all estate is certified organic, so no chemicals are used in the vineyards, any treatment in the estates are done using biodynamic methods; all harvest are done manually and parcel per parcel, vinified in micro-cuvees without any additives (yeast, enzymes, sulphur) and ageing is done within the estate in stainless steel, oak barrels, or even in ceramic jar – reacting some century-old practice.

Carignan Blanc is a rare mutation of the already rare Carignan grape (producing red wine); it is usually part of a blend, so finding a 100% like this bottle is a tough job! The vines here are over 80 years old, and the volume of production a mere 15 hl per hectare (young vines can go above 120hl!). The nose offers fennel, vanilla, hint of coconut; On the palate, this is very racy and elegant, with a certain roundness at first then strength but without any heaviness. A beautiful, un-common wine to discover.

I am not really a white wine person and most probably prefer Chardonnay coz it's aroma and sweetness ... I bought this wine because of the description as is tough to find this grape ... and yes indeed a nice paired with my medium grilled steak (Posted on 19/05/2017)

This is definitely not something for everyone but wine geeks like me will love it. Organic wine from France, obscure grape, very funky and rich aromas of fennel herbs, vanilla with deep round juicy that won’t leave you indifferent. (Posted on 05/05/2017)
