The wine is almost black in colour, displaying dark red glints and a delicate purple rim. The complex, intensely fresh bouquet opens on toasty notes, enhanced by powerful black fruit aromas. The wine is all-enveloping and characterised by an elegant, powerful, tight structure and silky, concentrated tannins. It evolves towards an impressively long finish, revealing attractive oaky notes. Magnificent Belgrave, very Saint-Julien in style.
Marquis de Calon-Ségur is a blend of 53% Merlot and 47% Cabernet Sauvignon (14.9% alcohol). It is anticipated to age for 17 months in barriques, 30% new. Deep purple-black in color, it gives up opulent scents of Indian spices, menthol and plum preserves with a core of crème de cassis, baked cherries and raspberry pie plus a hint of sandalwood. Big, rich, full-bodied and voluptuously fruited in the mouth, it has bags of black fruit preserves and exotic spices with a firm, plush frame, finishing long with a minty lift. Definitely one for the hedonists!

This is a tannic and racy red wine, with a dark ruby dress. It has some ripe fruits and woody aromas and it has a long and fresh aftertaste with hint of black fruits. Pairs perfectly with red meats and cheese.
Full bodied with dark berry and plum flavours and well balanced with complex aromas from French Oak barrels. A wine with a long lingering finish.Food suggestions: Ostrich fillet with chocolate-chilli sauce, rack of lamb
